Guerin Catholic won a Tuesday all-county match, beating Hamilton Heights 25-15, 25-21, 25-16 at the Eagles Nest.

“The past few weeks in practice, we’ve been working a lot on our communication and energy, and I thought that was the most consistent thing throughout the game,” said Golden Eagles coach Hailey Brown. The coach also said her seniors “did a great job of leadership” in the match.

Senior setter Callie Thomas and sophomore libero Kennedy Cherry both played strong matches for the Huskies, who are 4-1 for the season.

“Guerin is a good-serving team, and they were hustling,” said Heights coach Steve Ward. “They didn’t let any balls drop. If we got a ball over, they seemed to be in the right spot at the right time every single time.” Ward said his team is young, “so we’re going to be up and down a little bit this year, so it was definitely a great learning curve.”
