Volleyball: ‘Hounds, ‘Rocks sweep conference matches

The Carmel volleyball team swept North Central in a Tuesday Metropolitan Conference match, 25-15, 25-13, 25-23.
The Greyhounds are undefeated in the MIC with a 6-0 record. Carmel controlled the match with strong serving and offense, backed up by an all-out effort on defense.
Macarty McQueen blasted 16 kills for the ‘Hounds, with Ella Brooks hitting 11 kills. Miraya More had five kills, with Emily Waddell and Caroline Yuska both putting down four kills. Ella Bostic handed out 43 assists.
On defense, Brooks and Lauren Evans both collected nine digs, with Bostic hitting six digs. Yuska made five blocks, Waddell had four blocks and McQueen had two. Emmerson Evans served four aces, with Brooks and Lauren Evans both serving two aces.
Carmel is 15-5 overall and plays at Noblesville tonight.

Westfield swept past Franklin Central in a Monday Hoosier Crossroads Conference match, 25-11, 25-23, 25-21.
Kaylee Sutcliffe served six aces for the Shamrocks, while Lucy Muntel hit 11 kills. Logan Mapes handed out 26 assists, while Mallory Weber made 15 digs.
Westfield is 3-1 in the HCC and 8-9 overall. The ‘Rocks play another conference match tonight at Brownsburg.
