Volleyball: Fishers & Sheridan win, Heights falls

The Fishers volleyball team won a tough four-set match over Lawrence North Tuesday at the Tiger Den.

The set scores were 25-20, 22-25, 25-22, 27-25, with Fishers erasing two set points in the fourth set to clinch the victory. Senior Lucy Kay hit the Tigers’ final two kills, totaling 18 for the night. Ellen Roberts put down 13 kills and also made seven digs. Izzy Bowman had 10 kills and five blocks, then Aubree Valcourt hit eight kills, with a 0.385 hitting percentage.

“I’m incredibly proud of our team for having the ‘clutch gene’ tonight,” said Fishers coach Steven Peek. “We found ways to win points when we needed to, especially when getting a chance to put on display some of the new things we’ve been working on in practice. Players stepped up to push us across the finish line.”

The Tigers are 9-8 and play at Hamilton Southeastern Thursday in the Mudsock match.

Sheridan won a four-set Hoosier Heartland Conference match over Taylor on Tuesday, 25-15, 18-25, 25-17, 25-11 at Larry Hobbs Hall.

The Blackhawks are 7-5 and play at Irvington Prep Academy tonight.

Hamilton Heights was swept by Zionsville 25-12, 25-18, 25-20 on Tuesday.

Katie Brown and Jessa Steffen both made several digs for the Huskies, who are 11-4 for the season. Heights hosts Western on Thursday.
