Unused railroad tracks being removed this week in Noblesville

The City of Noblesville has hired a contractor to remove the remainder of unused railroad tracks located west of Eighth Street – south of the Downtown Square. Work will begin Monday, Oct. 19 and include 10 cross streets. During construction, roads will be temporarily closed and cars will be directed to nearby cross streets as a detour.

Work areas include: Walnut Street, Pleasant Street, Washington Street, Plum Street, Chestnut Street, Frash Road and four locations farther south on Eighth Street with business entrances.

Once the rails are removed, the area will be filled with asphalt for a smoother travel. This is a continuation of the previous rail removal work done last fall on Eighth Street. Construction is expected to take one week – weather permitting. For more information or questions about the project, contact Construction Manager Spencer Cooper at scooper@noblesville.in.us.
