University swimming places ninth as team, Kumler wins 50 freestyle

University senior Neiman Kumler qualified for state in two events last Saturday out of the Lawrence North sectional.

Kumler won the 50 freestyle in 21.24 seconds and placed second in the 100 free with a time of 46.45 seconds, under the state cut time. This will be the second consecutive year that Kumler will swim at the state finals.

The Trailblazers finished ninth as a team with 91 points. University had two relay finishes in the top six, with Kumler joining Gabriel Pryor, Zachary Sullivan and Owen Ascioti to place fifth in the 400 free relay (3:42.28) and sixth in the 200 free relay (1:37.74).
