Thomas Matthew “Matt” Nightenhelser, 67, Atlanta, died on October 11, 2025, at Riverview Health Hospital following a long and courageous battle with cancer. He was born February 1, 1958, in Tipton to Jimmy and Peggy Nightenhelser. He was a graduate of Hamilton Heights High School Class of 1976.
Matt was a truck driver for 40 years. He took pride in his safe driving records, receiving a “Million Miles Safe Driving Award” from Ryder Logistics. He enjoyed gardening and watching hummingbirds. He was a fan of vintage Western TV shows and movies. Matt’s faith in Jesus Christ was an important part of his life, remarking recently, “I only trust Jesus.”
Surviving him are two daughters: Megan (Brad) Fennell of Lafayette, and Mandi (Jay) Glick of Cicero; six grandchildren: Lilah, Lucie, Henry, Karrah, Jaxson, and Grayson; brothers Boyd (Tammy) Nightenhelser of Columbus, Stuart (Jan) Nightenhelser of Noblesville, and Jay (Kristina) Nightenhelser of Atlanta; and sister Dina (Dennis) Kalina of Vestel, N.Y.
