The joy of giving back during the holidays

For me, the holidays are a time to spread cheer, spend quality time with family, and give back to the community that I care so deeply about. Hamilton County is a wonderful place, and I encourage each of you to consider giving back to the organizations that make Hamilton County the county it is today.

Here are a few of the countywide organizations that I am involved with that do so much for our county.

Humane Society for Hamilton County

From donations to adoptions to fulfilling their wish list, the Humane Society has several ways to give back. Their holiday Tinsel & Tails event takes place on Friday, Nov. 17.

The Festival of Trees

This event supports the Good Samaritan Network (GSN) with proceeds going to the Holiday Assistance program, which annually assists thousands of Hamilton County residents with holiday food, clothing and toys and provides hot meals on Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Eve. The event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 19, or you can bid on the trees online through a silent auction.

Janus Developmental Services

This organization provides individuals with disabilities the opportunity to participate and contribute within the community. To support, you can donate online or purchase items off their Amazon Wish List.

Prevail, Inc.

This Hamilton County-focused nonprofit provides crisis intervention and restorative support services for adult, adolescent and child survivors of crime and abuse. In addition to monetary donations, their most needed items are gift cards for local grocery stores, Walmart and Target, bottled water, and individually packaged snacks for children and teens.

There are many great organizations in our county. These are just a few to consider! I wish everyone a joyful holiday season, and I encourage you all to give back when you can.
