The Bridgewater Club recently held a grand opening event for six new pickleball courts which were added to their outdoor recreation space. Members of the community celebrated the early completion of the project, which was originally projected to be done by Memorial Day.
Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in the country, with 4.8 million players worldwide and a 39 percent growth in just two years, according to a report from the Sports & Fitness Industry Association. The Bridgewater Club recognized the sports popularity last year and began construction to add the six new courts, which are specifically designed for playing pickleball.
“We are excited to have the new pickleball courts done as the warmer weather moves in,” said Mike Gardner, Chief Operating Officer of The Bridgewater Club. “The demand for pickleball courts was high as the sport grew in popularity over the past few years. Our members and competitive pickleball leagues are already enjoying the new space.”
Other outdoor amenities The Bridgewater Club provides include:
- Six tennis courts
- An 18-hole championship course designed by Pete Dye
- A 9-hole executive course
- A 23-acre practice range
- A 6-acre short game area
- Heated hitting stalls for year-round outdoor golf practice
- 3.5-mile walking trail that meanders through the community
- Playground with basketball, soccer, volleyball, shuffleboard and children’s activities
