For the third consecutive year, the Carmel Fire Department held its annual Firefighter For A Day Camp Adaptive Afternoon on Monday, June 8. What began as a unique opportunity to introduce children to the fire service in an inclusive setting has continued to grow each year, welcoming more participants and creating lasting memories for campers and their families.

The Adaptive Afternoon program is specifically designed to provide children with an engaging camp experience in a supportive environment. The event offered a fun experience and campers had the opportunity to interact with firefighters, explore apparatus, and participate in a variety of hands-on activities.

This year’s event was another tremendous success, thanks in large part to our title sponsor, Carmel Clay Township, a dedicated supporter of Firefighter For A Day Camp since its inception in 2013. The event would not be possible without the volunteers and community partners who work together to help create a welcoming and enjoyable experience for all.

Smiles, laughter, and excitement filled the day as children enjoyed the many camp activities. Adaptive Afternoon provides an excellent option for children who may find a full day of camp overwhelming. By offering a shorter more flexible experience, the program allows more children to enjoy Firefighter For A Day Camp at a pace that is comfortable for them.

The Carmel Fire Department is proud to provide opportunities that promote inclusion, community engagement, and positive experience for all children, and looks forward to continuing this growing tradition for years to come.
