The Westfield girls tennis team cruised to first place at the Crawfordsville Invitational on Saturday.
The No. 10-ranked Shamrocks finished first in all three singles brackets and at No. 2 doubles, while No. 1 doubles finished in third place. No. 1 singles Isabella Norris had a perfect day, winning all three of her matches 6-0, 6-0 against Northview, Terre Haute North and Delta.
At No. 2 singles, Alana Raymond beat Delta 6-2, 7-5, Crawfordsville 6-2, 6-0 and Bloomington North 6-1, 2-6, 11-9 in the third-set tiebreaker. No. 3 singles Addi Kooi won each of her matches in straight sets, over Terre Haute North 6-1, 6-2, Northview 6-0, 6-0 and Bloomington North 6-0, 6-2.
The No. 1 doubles team of Emma Schwind and Lauren Hammond beat North Montgomery 6-2, 6-1, lost to Delta 6-2, 6-4, then rebounded to beat Crawfordsville 6-1, 6-1. At No. 2 doubles, Brooke Rodgers and Chloe Carlson defeated Bloomington North 7-6 (5), 6-4 and Terre Haute North 6-1, 6-1. Bri Saylor and Abby Short played the third-round match, taking care of Delta 6-3, 6-3.
Westfield is 6-1 and hosts Noblesville on Tuesday.
Hamilton Southeastern, ranked No. 7, fell to No. 17 Cathedral 4-1 in a Saturday morning dual meet.
The Royals got the win at No. 2 doubles, with Maya Wetzel and Naina Patwardhan cruising to victory 6-3, 6-0. Southeastern coach Doug Gernert said the team “competed well at each spot” despite not getting the win.
The Royals will play Guerin Catholic on Monday.
