Tennis: Millers win Pink Out match

The Noblesville and Westfield tennis teams played a highly competitive dual meet Thursday at the Millers’ tennis complex.

Noblesville, ranked No. 10 in this week’s Indiana High School Tennis Coaches Association poll, edged out the No. 12 Shamrocks 3-2. It was the Millers’ Pink Out match, in honor of breast cancer awareness.

Noblesville won two three-set matches at the same moment to clinch the victory. No. 1 doubles Lina Hamashuk and Cami Crist came back from being down 5-4 in the third set, winning three straight games to get past Westfield’s Olivia Krauss and Jenna Berry 6-1, 4-6, 7-5. Stamm won the No. 2 singles match over Alana Raymond 6-1, 4-6, 6-2.

“I am super-proud of how this team is handling the pressure and showing their mental toughness,” said Noblesville coach Kevin Lindley.

The other three matches were decided in straight sets. The Millers’ Bella Duncan got her team’s first point by winning at No. 1 singles 6-1, 6-2 over Juliette Grilliot.

The Shamrocks’ victories were at No. 3 singles, with Addi Kooi beating Josie Flinchum 6-3, 6-0, and No. 2 doubles, where Chloe Carlson and Bri Saylor defeated Daniella Tuesca and Olivia Gadis 6-1, 6-0.
