Tennis: All-county duals highlight this week’s action

Hamilton County’s girls tennis teams have been busy this week, with a handful of all-county dual meets among the competition.
In a Wednesday all-county dual, No. 14-ranked Noblesville beat Guerin Catholic 5-0 at the Noblesville East Middle School courts.
The Millers won all five matches in straight sets. No. 1 singles Bella Duncan won 6-3, 6-3, No. 2 Allie Stamm got a 6-0, 6-0 victory and No. 3 Josie Flinchum was a 6-2, 6-2 winner. No. 1 doubles Alli Maskew and Lina Hamashuk won 6-0, 6-2 and Sierra Leach and Cami Crist were 6-3, 6-3 winners.

Guerin Catholic rebounded on Friday to beat Lafayette Central Catholic 3-2 in a dual meet at the Golden Eagles’ courts.
Guerin was led by No. 1 singles Katie Geon, who won her match 6-1, 6-0. No. 2 singles Grace Quigley got a 7-5, 6-4 victory and the No. 2 doubles team of Hannah Dilley and Emma Oakley won a tough match 7-5, 7-5.
“I think I played really well,” said Geon. “We had a long week, so considering it was our fifth match, I was proud of the way I played.”
The Golden Eagles were playing their fifth dual meet in five days, against very tough competition. Guerin Catholic started the week with a Monday win over Bishop Chatard, then fell to No. 4-ranked Fishers on Tuesday and Noblesville on Wednesday. The Golden Eagles then beat Heritage Christian on Thursday before their dual victory over LCC on Friday.
Guerin Catholic is 6-9 for the season.

Carmel, ranked No. 1 in the state, picked up three dual-meet wins during the later parts of this week.
The Greyhounds started with a 5-0 victory Wednesday over No. 9 Hamilton Southeastern, then defeated Fishers 4-1 on Thursday. Carmel finished the week Friday by getting past co-No. 5 South Bend St. Joseph 3-2.
The ‘Hounds play at Noblesville on Monday.

Hamilton Southeastern finished its regular season Friday with a victory over Mount Vernon 3-2.
The Royals won both doubles matches, with No. 1 Misha Bukkasagaram and Emily Orme winning 6-0, 6-4 and No. 2 Kaylee Etheredge and Novelle Lee picking up a 6-3, 6-4 win. No. 2 singles Meghan Slaninka won her match 6-2, 7-5 to clinch the meet.
“This improves the team to 10 wins on the season, and was a great way to end the regular season,” said Southeastern coach Doug Gernert.

Westfield, ranked No. 8, dropped a close match to co-No. 5 Park Tudor 3-2 in a Friday home dual meet.
No. 3 singles Addi Kooi won her match 6-2, 6-2 and No. 2 doubles Broke Rodgers and Chloe Carlson triumphed 6-1, 6-3.
The Shamrocks are 11-3 and host Pendleton Heights on Monday.
