After a pause for some necessary medical adventures, it’s time for Mrs. K and I to get back to our food adventures – very much preferred!
Our first stop is to a place we have driven past a good number of times: Taylor’s Pub & Grill at Nora, located at 1546 E. 86th St. on the corner of Westfield and 86th.
Taylor’s in Nora is one of three locations for the chain (which also operates Ruth’s Cafe in the Keystone at the Crossings area). Comfortably spacious, with a well-appointed bar/dining room on the inside – we opted to sit in the afternoon shade of their outdoor seating area.
Our server Margaret came by and left us with menus, then returned to take our drink orders – Kendall Jackson Chardonnay ($10) for the lady, and a Coors Light ($5.25) bottle for me. The menu is full of a good variety of possibilities, from steaks to salads, beef to fish, handhelds to plates.
There is no Happy Hour at Taylor’s, but we wanted to experience their take on some of our favorites. Mrs. K ordered the Traditional Sliders and a side salad ($19) while I decided to try their Beer Battered Fish & Chips, which came with a side of coleslaw ($18).

It was a pleasant summer afternoon in the outdoor area – which consists of 4 four-top tables, and a nicely cushioned couch and chairs area with a fire table arranged in front of a large wall-hung television showing sports. Located hard by a parking area off Westfield Boulevard, there was little disturbance from traffic.
Our food came and it was very nicely presented. My order consisted of two hot and crispy fillets piled atop a generous order of seasoned fries. The fish was too hot to be finger food at first, but perfect to cut with a fork. The small cup of homemade coleslaw had a very pleasing flavor and the hot fries were wonderfully seasoned with a very original combination of spices. My wife’s order came just as she had specified: no cheese, fixin’s on the side, and were of a good size – so good that of the three on her plate, she ate one and took two home for our lunch the next day. Everything was delicious and Margaret was attentive without overdoing it.
Our tab came to $62.95 plus tip (I had ordered a second beer, a Modelo Negra ($5.50), with my food.)

Taylor’s Pub & Grill (visit taylorspubindy.com online) is open daily from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. (Monday to Saturday) and noon to 2 a.m. (Sunday) with two locations along 86th Street and one in Ingalls, Ind. Our visit featured good service, good surroundings, and good food – so I believe we will be back!
