Practices have officially begun for one of the more successful sports in Hamilton County: Swimming.
Girls teams began their practices on Monday. The IHSAA allows girls teams to conduct their first meet on Monday, Nov. 5, but most of the county teams won’t be starting right away. Instead, they will be waiting until the boys can begin their season. The first official practice for boys teams will be Nov. 5, and the boys can begin competing in meets on Monday, Nov. 19.
Two county schools will have girls only meets at first. Hamilton Heights’ girls will open their season at Oak Hill on Monday, Nov. 12, then host Lebanon on Thursday, Nov. 15. Westfield’s girls will have their annual invitational on Saturday, Nov. 17.
The first co-ed meets of the year are set for Tuesday, Nov. 20. Heights will host Anderson, then Noblesville hosts Hamilton Southeastern. Westfield’s boys will join the girls for a Saturday, Nov. 24 three-team meet at Fishers; this will be the season opener for the Tigers.
Guerin Catholic will begin its season Tuesday, Nov. 27 in a dual meet at Lawrence Central, while University travels to Elwood for its opener on Wednesday, Nov. 28. Carmel will begin with the Noblesville Invitational on Saturday, Dec. 1.
