High school students from Carmel High School and University High School are finalizing their artwork entries for the 2026 Carmel International Arts Festival (CIAF) annual exhibition and scholarship program.
The art department chairs for Carmel High (Jen Bubp) and University High (Tasha Barger) each expect to submit 50 to 70 pieces of art in various media: painting, fiber, photography, jewelry, charcoal, ceramics, and others. The submitted artworks will be on display at the Indiana Artisan Gallery on Range Line Road in the Carmel Arts and Design District during both days of the festival, Sept. 26 and 27.
Cindy Roberts-Greiner, board member and director of the student show, said, “The student exhibition is an important component of the CIAF’s primary mission to educate the community through the arts. This year, we will be awarding $17,500 in scholarships to chosen students.”
In addition to the scholarship competition, students say they are excited to see their creations displayed in a professional art gallery.
According to Indiana Artisan Gallery Executive Director Rosalyn Demaree, “Allotting space for the high school student art show is a pleasure. I’ve continually been impressed by students’ creativity and talent.”
In addition to providing a professional exhibit space, the gallery also sponsors two scholarships, the “People’s Choice Award” at $500 each. Visitors to the Gallery can vote on their favorite pieces of art. The ballots for these awards are tallied at the end of the festival.
All of the CIAF scholarships, plus added awards supported by the Carmel Arts Council, Indiana Artisan Gallery and Tri Kappa Sorority, will be announced during the festival. On Saturday afternoon and Sunday, ribbons will be placed on winning entries.
The CIAF committee expects nearly 30,000 people to attend this year. The festival will take place from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26 and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 27.
