December 26, 1944 – September 6, 2026
Karen Sue (Machnik) Bolin, formerly Molnar, 81, Westfield, passed away September 6, 2026. She was born on December 26, 1944, in Wyandotte, Mich., daughter of Joseph and Cassie (Olkowski) Machnik.
Karen was a 1963 graduate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel High School, Wyandotte, Mich., where she was well known and enjoyed being involved in various school activities. Following graduation, she began a career in the administration office with Wayne County, Mich., until her retirement.
Before marrying Captain John Bolin, Karen seldom traveled farther than the west coast when visiting her brothers. New opportunities became available for Karen to travel throughout the world as Captain Bolin’s wife, frequently occupying the third seat in the cockpit. During her travels, she logged an extraordinary one million air miles.
After moving to Westfield, Karen found a new source of joy when working as a school bus aide with the Washington Township Schools for five years.
As a woman of deep faith, Karen was a firm believer in Jesus Christ and Almighty God. Her faith remained steadfast and brought her strength and comfort through the years.
In addition to her parents, Karen was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Captain John Bolin; and son, Scott Molnar.
Survivors include her brothers, Joseph Machnik and Joseph Dominczyk; nephews, Joe Machnik Jr. and Michael Machnik; and grandniece, Casmira Machnik.
