Softball roundup: Noblesville blows Avon out of the water, Southeastern handles Greenfield-Central, Fishers, Carmel, Guerin Catholic all fall

The Noblesville softball team blasted Avon 15-4 in six innings on Tuesday to begin Hoosier Crossroads Conference play.

Mack Harvey hit a fourth-inning home run for the Millers, also scoring Gabby Fowler, who smacked her own two-run homer in the fifth inning. Chloe Vetter had two hits: a triple and a double. Vetter’s triple was the game-winner as it scored three runs in the sixth inning to finish the game on the 10-run rule.

Haley Schatko and Delaney Rundle both hit a double and a single; Rundle totaled two hits and three RBIs. Vetter drove in four runs overall. Claire Cullen went five innings for the win, striking out five.

Noblesville is 2-1 and plays Thursday at Greenfield-Central.

Hamilton Southeastern took care of Greenfield-Central 10-4 in a Tuesday home game.

The Royals scored four runs in the first inning, starting with Lani Wyrick. She got on base with a triple, then scored on an error. Keira Lodes doubled in Addy Justice, then Reese Garland’s single brought in Lodes and Jenna Chase.

Wyrick scored again in the second inning. She smacked her second triple of the game, then was batted in by Chase. In the fourth inning, Garland scored on a wild pitch, then Megan Wincek hit a center field home run, also scoring Makenna Selm. Emmy Seifferlein scored on Chase’s sacrifice fly, then Wyrick got home on a wild pitch.

Justice went 4-for-4 at the plate, while Wyrick was 3-for-3. Alex Kiemeyer and Lodes both hit a double. Chase pitched three innings for the win, striking out five.

Southeastern is 3-0 and are off until April 5, when they play at Beech Grove.

Fishers dropped a 6-3 game at Center Grove on Monday.

The Tigers scored in the top of the first inning when Kendall Jordan doubled in Hailey Trueblood. The Trojans answered with a three-run double in the bottom of the inning, holding the lead from there. Fishers added a run in the second inning when Victoria Abel singled in Brooke Johnson, and in the fifth inning when Hailey Kinder batted Jordan in with a right field hit.

Johnson was 3-for-4 with two doubles, while Trueblood had two hits. Kate Murray pitched a complete game, striking out five.

The Tigers are 2-1 and are off until April 5 when they host Penn.

Carmel dropped a 10-1 game against Plainfield on Monday.

Jayden Kleiner hit a home run in the bottom of the first inning, but the Quakers scored four runs in the top of the second to take control of the game. K Warren also got a hit for the Greyhounds.

Carmel is 0-3 and hosts Mount Vernon tonight.

Guerin Catholic fell to Beech Grove 12-2 on Tuesday.

The Golden Eagles scored both of their runs in the fourth inning. Lauren Brady scored when Rilee Kleusner was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded, then Lucy Kemp stole home later in the inning. Kate Brady and Kemp both had one hit.

Guerin Catholic is 0-3 and plays Saturday at Indy Marlins Homeschool.
