Carmel took care of New Palestine 7-0 Friday, April 17 at Cherry Tree Softball Complex.
Jayden Kleiner doubled in the first run in the opening inning, scoring Riley Petrites. Chole Junkersfield sent Kleiner home with a left field home run, giving the Greyhounds a 3-0 lead.
Taylor Vietch smacked a solo homer in the second inning. Carmel added three more runs in the third inning: Kleiner scored on Winni Owens’ RBI groundout, then Avery Klein blasted a center field home run to score her and Junkersfield.
Petrites, Kleiner and Junkersfield all had two hits. Chelsea Bennett pitched a complete game, striking out four against three hits.
The Hounds are 6-6 and play this afternoon at North Central.

Hamilton Heights finished their home game with Bishop Chatard with a rush on Monday, beating the Trojans 14-7.
Both teams scored three runs in the first inning. Taya Trosper put the Huskies on the board with a three-run double, also scoring McKenzie Jackson, Olivia Turner and Hannah Dent.
Chatard put up three runs in the second inning to lead 6-3. Heights got two runs back in the bottom of the second, with Melanee Forrester and Turner scoring on an error.
The Trojans scored their final run in the top of the third, but the Huskies tied the game at 7-7 with two more runs in the bottom of the inning. Jackson was sent home by Forrester’s sacrifice fly, then Kaitlyn Schakel singled in Lilly Cash for the tying run.
Jackson singled in the go-ahead run in the fourth inning. Her right field hit scored Dent and gave Heights an 8-7 lead.
The Huskies put the game out of reach with six runs in the sixth inning. Jackson scored on a wild pitch, then Forrester singled in Trosper and Cash. Turner doubled Forrester and Schakel home, then Heather Crays singled in Turner for Heights’ 14th run.
Turner was perfect, hitting 4-for-4. Jackson also had a perfect day, going 3-for-3. Turner hit two doubles, while Dent also hit a double. Cash pitched five innings, striking out six and allowing four hits.
The Huskies are 7-1 and begin a Hoosier Conference series tonight by hosting Tipton.

Westfield’s Saturday, April 18 game at Cathedral finished in a 6-6 tie after eight innings.
The Irish led 6-0 after three innings. The Shamrocks scored their first run in the fourth inning: Olivia Sampia singled in Dylan Todd.
Westfield scored five runs in the seventh inning to tie the game. Sydney Jordan singled in Adelyn Kurth, then Sampia batted in Makayla Watson and Todd with a center field hit. Cam Pulice sent a single into right field to score Jordan and Annika Lawrence (running for Sampia) to tie the game.
Watson went 4-for-5 at the plate, including a triple. Jodan, Sampia and Pulice all had two hits. Mac Delph pitched five innings, striking out five against three hits.
The Rocks lost at New Palestine 3-1 on Monday.
The Dragons scored the game’s first run in the second inning. Westfield tied things up in the third when Carlynne Schrock hit a two-out double, then scored on Jordan’s center field hit. But New Pal scored two runs in the bottom of the third inning and held on from there.
Jordan finished the game with two hits.
Westfield is 4-5-1 and hosts Fishers tonight in an HCC game.
