For the first time this season, the Fishers Tigers carried a losing record in the Hoosier Crossroads Conference, but it didn’t last long.

After losing to rival Class 4A Noblesville, 5-3, at The Dunk on Thursday, April 16, the host 4A Tigers roared back to split their HCC series with an 8-0 shutout victory on Friday, April 17.

Fishers logged seven hits, including a two-run home run by junior Ethan Buelt, and junior pitchers Austin Conley (4.0 IP, 5 Ks) and Carter Strole (3.0 IP, 5 Ks, SV) combined to blank the Millers.

The Tigers improved to 2-2 in the HCC with the win.

Fishers plated two runs in the bottom of the third off Buelt’s (2-for-2, 2 RBI, stolen base) second homer of the season.

A two-run fourth and four-run fifth padded the Tigers’ advantage with freshman Henry Cherry (1-for-3, 2 RBI) lacing a two-out single scoring a pair, 4-0.

A sacrifice fly by senior David Pina, a two-out single by senior Connor Hackworth (1-for-1, 2 RBI) and a two-out, run-scoring double by junior Parker Congdon (1-for-1) made it 8-0.

Evansville commit Owen Lukac (1-for-2, 2 runs) had a double in the fourth to set up Cherry’s RBI situation.
