Hamilton Heights jumped out to an early lead at Westfield on Monday, then cruised to a 9-4 victory over the Shamrocks.
The Huskies scored three runs in the first inning. Heather Crays went home first after Kamryn Rhoton reached on error, Taya Trosper scored after Hannah Dent reached on error, then Rhoton was sent home on a Lily Cash sacrifice fly.
Rhoton cracked a two-run home run in the third inning, also scoring Audrey Cain and putting Heights up 5-0. Westfield got two runs back in the bottom of the third: Sofia Easterhaus doubled in Annika Lawrence, then Cam Pulice scored Easterhaus with a double.
Heights added two more runs in the fifth inning. Cain scored after Dent reached on error, then Rhoton got home on a wild pitch.
The Huskies scored another two runs in the sixth inning. Dent singled in Trosper and Rhoton scored her third run of the game on Olivia Turner’s sacrifice fly.
The Shamrocks got two runs in the seventh inning; Easterhaus singled in Makayla Watson, then was sent home by a Mariana Lopez single.
Rhoton and McKenzie Jackson both had three hits. Cash got the pitching win. Easterhaus was perfect at the plate, going 4-for-4.
Heights is 10-1 and plays Thursday at Fishers. Westfield is 9-5-1 and hosts Roncalli on Thursday.
