Soccer: Carmel & Southeastern boys tie, both Westfield teams win over Avon

The Carmel and Hamilton Southeastern boys soccer teams played to a 1-1 tie Thursday at the Royals’ field in the regular-season finale for both teams.

The Class 3A No. 2 Greyhounds scored first just before halftime, as a Dawson Droste cross resulted in an own goal. 3A No. 19 Southeastern came back and scored in the 79th minute, with Logan Puls finding the back of the net.

Carmel is 13-1-2 and plays Westfield Monday in the first round of Sectional 10 at Zionsville. Southeastern is 7-5-3 and plays Fishers Wednesday in the semifinals of Sectional 8 at Noblesville.

Westfield finished its regular season Thursday with a 3-0 Hoosier Crossroads Conference win over Avon.

The Shamrocks finished conference play 4-1-2 and are 7-5-2 overall.

Westfield’s girls, No. 6 in Class 3A, also finished the regular season Thursday with a 3-0 HCC win at Avon.

Kate Malin scored two goals for the Shamrocks, with Zahara Ali scoring one goal. Kate Pallante earned the clean sheet as goalkeeper.

Westfield finished conference play 3-1-3 and is 9-2-5 overall. The ‘Rocks play North Central Tuesday in the first round of Sectional 10 at Carmel.
