SMC Corporation of America announced plans on Thursday, Oct. 2 to transition all operations of AP Tech from its Napa, Calif., facility to SMC’s headquarters in Noblesville. The Napa facility will close on Dec. 2, following a 60-day transition period.
Over the past two years, SMC and AP Tech have worked together to improve efficiency and evaluate the long-term sustainability of the Napa site. Despite extensive efforts to streamline operations, the cost of maintaining the facility in California has remained higher than can be supported.
“This was not an easy decision,” SMC Corporation of America President Kelley Stacy said. “The Napa team has demonstrated exceptional skill, dedication, and care for our customers. This change is not a reflection of their work or performance. Rather, it is a strategic step to strengthen our overall operations and ensure long-term success for our combined organization.”
As part of the transition, all Napa-based AP Tech employees will be offered the opportunity to apply to relocate to Noblesville and continue contributing to the company’s future. SMC will provide resources and support to employees throughout this process.
“The investments required to keep Napa operating would limit our ability to invest in our people and the growth of our business as a whole,” Stacy said. “By consolidating into our Noblesville headquarters, we can better align our teams, improve collaboration, and enhance the value we bring to customers worldwide.”
This consolidation marks the next step in fully integrating AP Tech into SMC’s operations, further leveraging combined resources, expertise, and capabilities to serve a global customer base.
