At 7:47 p.m. on Monday, Westfield police officers and firefighters were dispatched to a single vehicle crash involving serious bodily injury at the intersection of Grassy Branch Road and Mere Boulevard.
Upon arrival at the scene, officers located a 2006 Buick sedan which had broken into several pieces. The driver, Debra Clark, Westfield, was extricated from the vehicle and transported to Riverview Hospital at Westfield, where Clark was then pronounced deceased.
Preliminary information suggests the vehicle was southbound on Grassy Branch Road and lost control. The vehicle then hit a tree head on. The accident in still under investigation by members of the Westfield Police Department Crash Reconstruction Team.
