Short videos seek to inform, educate Carmel residents

The City of Carmel has launched a new video series – the Carmel Minute – featuring brief conversations with a variety of City leaders, including Mayor Jim Brainard. The goal is to educate residents on matters important to them, such as the City’s fiscal management policies, planning, zoning and redevelopment strategies.

“Government has a responsibility to adequately explain how and why we make the decisions that we do, especially in today’s fragmented media world where social media posts are often taken as true, even if they are only opinions based on inaccurate information,” said Nancy Heck, Director of Community Relations and Economic Development. “We are using this as another avenue to reach out to people on social media who find this format appealing.”

The first video launched Thursday on the City’s YouTube page features Mayor Brainard discussing the city’s fiscal management plan. Future videos will feature other City leaders discussing their roles and thoughts about a variety of City services and policies.
