Sheridan Homecoming celebrates what it means to be a Blackhawk

Sheridan Community Schools (SCS) will soon welcome back Blackhawk alumni, families, and community members for Homecoming Week, Sept. 21 to 25. This year’s celebration will combine the traditions that make Homecoming special with a reminder of why there has never been a better time to be a Blackhawk.

The 2026 Homecoming theme, “Childhood Toys,” will bring plenty of creativity and school spirit to the halls of Sheridan High School throughout the week. Students will participate in themed activities, such as dress-up days, games, and even a pep session.

Homecoming is a time to celebrate where Sheridan has been, but it is also an opportunity to celebrate where the school community is headed. For years, Sheridan has proudly referred to itself as the “Best Kept Secret in Hamilton County,” but the secret is out.

Homecoming offers a chance for current students to experience the traditions that have connected generations of Blackhawks while giving alumni an opportunity to return home and see the continued growth of their school.

The week’s festivities will include the annual Homecoming Parade at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22. The parade will begin at Sheridan Middle School, travel in front of Sheridan High School, and continue to Main Street in downtown Sheridan. It will then loop back up White Avenue before ending at Sheridan High School.

Following the parade, Sheridan High School will have its annual Powderpuff Game, which will begin at 8 p.m. Tuesday.

The week will culminate with the Homecoming football game at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 25, as the Blackhawks take on Taylor. Students, alumni, families, and fans are invited to fill the stands and cheer on Sheridan. At halftime, the 2026 Fall Homecoming King and Queen will be announced.

While Homecoming is rooted in tradition, this year’s celebration is also a reflection of the exciting future ahead for Sheridan Schools. From classrooms and athletic fields to extracurricular activities and community partnerships, Blackhawks continue to show what can happen when a community invests in its students and its schools.
