Sheridan has had a tough week, after dropping two overtime games.
On Tuesday, the Blackhawks lost at Crawfordsville 47-44. Sheridan led 16-7 after the first period, but the Athenians came back in the middle periods, cutting the Blackhawks’ lead to 22-18 by halftime, then going up 30-29 at the end of three. Crawfordsville hit a 3-pointer at the buzzer to send the game to overtime tied at 41-41, then outscored Sheridan 6-3 in the extra period.
Taylor Bates earned a double-double of 16 rebounds and 10 points, also dishing out four assists. Emma Went had nine points and six rebounds, with Allie Delph handing out seven assists.
Sheridan returned to Hobbs Memorial Gymnasium on Thursday to host Tipton, falling 57-48. The ‘Hawks led 8-7 after one quarter and 23-19 at halftime. The Blue Devils came back to tie the game at 34-34 by the end of the third quarter. The score was still tied at 44-44 after regulation, then Tipton outscored Sheridan 13-4 in overtime.
Bates again led the scoring with 12 points, while Lillie Dickerson added 11. Bates collected seven rebounds, with Delph contributing seven assists, five rebounds and four steals.
The Blackhaws are 6-10 and are home again tonight to play Hoosier Heartland Conference opponent Tri-Central. The varsity-only game tips off at 6 p.m.
