Shamrocks cruise past Elkhart, take third place at Lawrence North tourney

Westfield finished third at the Lawrence North Tournament last Saturday.

The Shamrocks dropped their opening game to the host Wildcats 59-42. Westfield led 23-21 at halftime, but LN took over in the second half, outscoring the ‘Rocks 38-19.

Reagan Lorenzen led Westfield with 14 points, scoring in each quarter. Ellie Kelleher added 11 points and Lindsey Van Dyke scored nine.

The ‘Rocks won the third-place game by cruising past Elkhart 50-32. Van Dyke scored 10 points in the victory, while Kelleher contributed nine points and Aubrey Crockett scored eight. Nine different Westfield players scored.

“Every Lady Rock contributed in the victory with valuable minutes and energy from the entire bench,” said Westfield coach Kelsey Steele. “Madeline Linville provided a great spark in the second half scoring a couple of buckets down the stretch.”

The Shamrocks are 11-5 and play at Bishop Chatard on Wednesday, then host Hamilton Heights Saturday afternoon.
