Dear Editor:
It’s high time we citizens protest the growing trend in radio and television to substitute obscenities and profanities for polite discourse.
Never accused of being a prissy sort, I have noticed that potty-mouth is a symptom of ignorance.
Ignorance of better manners.
Ignorance of better vocabulary.
Ignorance of how stupid or sophomoric or downright insulating it all sounds.
A sure-fire way to clean up the verbiage would be to write emails to sponsors of offensive programs. That’ll get their attention.
And maybe the offenders will shape up.
