The Traveling Gardener, Linda Larson, will present “The Best View of the World is in a Garden” at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 17 at the Hamilton East Public Library, 209 W. Brinton St., Cicero.
Weaving stories from her personal travel to over 950 public and private gardens in 40 countries, this visual adventure will inspire you to venture down garden paths. Her program highlights nature’s beauty, curiosities, and wonders in a visually rich presentation.
Larson says gardens are perfect destinations that enrich travel: “Every visit reveals stories about the challenges to create a garden as well as the gardeners who planted the seeds.”
For over a decade, Larson has traveled in 40 countries, all 50 states, and visited over 950 gardens, recounting those travels in presentations including the Northwest Flower Show in Seattle, the Laguna Beach Garden Club, and through her blog, TravelingGardener.com. Phoenix Home & Garden Magazine featured her personal garden, and she wrote a monthly column for Roots & Shoots Magazine for nearly 10 years.
Larson says a garden is more than flowers; there is the architecture, power, and social struggles of the time.
“Gardens hold the living testimonies of history, culture, and nature,” Larson said. “Whether travels take you to the south of France or the south of Florence, Ariz., there are spectacular gardens to visit everywhere.”
Part travelogue, part inspiration, and motivation, the Traveling Gardner program is an invigorating prescription for anyone intrigued by nature, travel, and the environment to consider the revitalizing quality of garden visits.
Larson is an Indiana native and graduate of Indiana State University. She is a certified master gardener and resides in Mesa, Ariz.
