Saint Maria Goretti School was among 12 schools honored Monday by the Indiana Department of Education during a ceremony in Indianapolis for receiving a 2019 National Blue Ribbon Schools Award, according to State Rep. Donna Schaibley (R-Carmel).

“This national achievement would not be possible without the hard work of our teachers, students and school staff,” Schaibley said. “Congratulations to Saint Maria Goretti School for this tremendous accomplishment.”

The Blue Ribbon Schools Program is part of a larger national effort that aims to identify the best school leadership and teaching practices.

According to Schaibley, more than 312 public and 50 private schools from around the country will be recognized during a ceremony Nov. 14 and 15 in Washington, D.C. In its 37-year history, the National Blue Ribbon Schools Program has bestowed this coveted award on more than 9,000 schools.
