Royals win twice at their invitational

Hamilton Southeastern swept both of its Saturday games at the Royals’ invitational.
First, Southeastern took care of DeKalb 10-0 in six innings in a morning game. The Royals scored two runs in the first inning, starting when Cole Earlewine doubled in Noah Wolf. Harrison Dilts later batted in Earlewine.
Southeastern added three more runs in the second inning; Hunter Wright stole home, Earlewine singled in Ty Bradle, then Clayton Wilke stole home to put HSE up 5-0.
The Royals scored a run in the fourth inning when a Dilts single sent Wilke in the score. Southeastern finished the scoring with four runs in the sixth inning. Earlewine stole home, Wagner batted in Christian Beal, then a double by Chugga Rosario scored Wagner and Dilts.
Dilts was 3-for-3 at the plate, while Earlewine had two hits. Cam Howard pitched the complete game, striking out 11 against just two hits and one walk.
The Royals beat McCutcheon 3-2 in a rain-delayed evening game. Southeastern scored its first run in the second inning; Wright’s left field single sent Ian Bucher home.
The Mavericks tied the game in the fourth inning, then went up 2-1 in the top of the seventh. The Royals came back in the bottom of the seventh, starting with a Eli Miller single that scored Bradle and tied things up at 2-2.
Wolf came in to run for Miller, then moved to second when Earlewine drew a walk. Griffen Haas then was walked to load the bases, and Dilts drew a walk that got Wolf home for the winning run.
Miller was 3-for-4 at the plate. Ethan Lund pitched the first four innings, striking out nine, then Colin St. Clair threw the other three innings, getting the win.
Southeastern are 2-1 and play Friday at Pendleton Heights.
