Dear Secretary Blinken,
I have visited Ukraine many times since Putin’s invasion and can reassure you that the Ukrainian people and the Armed Forces of Ukraine are committed to Ukraine’s success in this brutal war for freedom and establishment of real democratic institutions. Although, our assistance, oversight and commitment to this cause will be crucial to achieve these goals.
I appreciate the return of the United States Embassy to Ukraine and the appointment of Bridget Brink as our ambassador. I have met with Ambassador Brink several times and was impressed with the quality of her team and her commitment to the success of our mission in Ukraine. Even in a short period of time, her work has already yielded results.
As you know, we have not had an ambassador and full-scale mission in Ukraine for some time. Therefore, in light of our significant commitment of resources to this region, quick rebuilding will be extremely important for the success of U.S. engagement in Ukraine.
I urge you to provide prompt assistance to our embassy with necessary staffing and robust support. I would also like you to consider establishing a U.S. Consulate in Lviv.
American leadership and the strength and courage of the Ukrainian people and their heroic fighters will bring an end to this horrific war and restore international order.
I appreciate your urgent attention to this matter. Feel free to reach out anytime.
Sincerely,
Victoria Spartz
Member of Congress
