On Sept. 9, the Westfield High School (WHS) Counseling Team and staff from the ELL Team organized a field trip to the JW Marriott in Indianapolis where the Indiana Latino Institute was holding its annual Indiana Latino Education Summit.

This was the first year WHS participated. During the event, Latino students in the central Indiana area had the opportunity to hear from guest speakers, financial aid representatives, and attend a college and career fair that was made up of 70 different organizations.

Overall, the Indiana Latino Education Summit provided an opportunity for Latino students to gain a better understanding on how to access higher education. By attending this event, Latino students in Westfield will be connected to an organization that has empowered many students in Indiana. A partnership between the Indiana Latino Institute and Westfield students and staff will continue to expand to provide more support and opportunities for all.

Westfield Washington Schools thanks the Indiana Latino Institute for inviting these students and allowing them to be a part of this amazing event.
