Rep. Cook receives summer study committee assignment

State Rep. Tony Cook (R-Cicero) was recently appointed to a serve on the Interim Study Committee on Education. Cook said over the next few months, members will examine career counseling in local elementary and high schools.

“Career counselors are essential resources who help guide Hoosier children on the path to success,” Cook said. “We want to make sure schools have the tools they need to get students ready to enter the workforce.”

The committee is also tasked with studying local referenda and how it impacts teacher pay and other government entities.

Cook was also appointed to the Indiana Protection Services and Advocacy Commission. Members will look into matters ensuring adequate legal and advocacy services for the protection, promotion and empowerment of the rights and interests of people with disabilities.

Interim study committee hearings, which typically occur at the Statehouse in Indianapolis, can be viewed live online at iga.in.gov. This site also provides committee calendars and meeting agendas. Members of the public are welcomed to attend and testify.
