Relay for Life is back

The Hamilton County Relay for Life American Cancer Society event is back. The relay is scaled back this year due to COVID restrictions but still has volunteers working hard to raise money to fight cancer.

This year the relay will be held on Friday, July 16 at the Blackhawk Winery, 28153 W. Ditch Road, Sheridan. The winery is a child-friendly venue and participants of all ages are encouraged to attend.

Teams may sign up at relayforlife.org/westfieldin. Teams may arrive at the winery and setup sites at 4 p.m. The Jaws food truck will be at the winery, but teams may also bring food into the event. Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, food, non-alcoholic drinks, canopy tents, games, etc.

Please note that the winery’s permit does not allow the presence of beer, liquor or non-Blackhawk Winery wine on the property.

Even though the relay is scaled back, there will still be a drop-in survivors event with food and prizes from 5 to 6 p.m. A luminary ceremony will be held at 8:30 p.m. Island Party with Kenny Kipp band will provide entertainment from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and other activities.
