Phyllis Joan (Beam) Baird

July 17, 1929 – June 19, 2022

Phyllis Joan (Beam) Baird, 92, Sheridan, passed away on Sunday, June 19, 2022, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 17, 1929, to the late Bernard and Juanita (Bess) Beam in Tipton County.

Phyllis was a graduate of Sheridan High School, Class of 1947.

While in high school, she met the man she spent the rest of her life with at the Café on Main Street, and on July 4, 1947, the two were married. They were at each other’s side until Jack preceded her in death on August 21, 1993.

Jack and Phyllis were spiritual people and regularly attended Reach Church, which is now Fuel Church. They raised their four children with their same values and beliefs. Phyllis worked a few different jobs until settling in at Marsh Supermarket for 16 years. She worked between the Carmel and Westfield locations, where she enjoyed helping and talking to the customers.

Phyllis was very involved in her church and would go on trips with her church group. When she was home, she enjoyed cooking, especially for her family, and she liked being outside working in her flower garden.

Phyllis will be greatly missed by her three daughters and a son, Paula (John) Hobbs, Patty Baird, Butch Baird and Pam (Ed) Zetterberg. She was a loving grandmother to Craig (Mindy) Duffer, Chrissy (Chris) Carden, Misty (Nathan) Blair, Tony (Jaimie) Zetterberg, Brett Baird and Remington Baird. Phyllis was a proud great grandmother to 11, and a sister to Babe Durbin.

Preceding Phyllis in death is her husband, Jack; her brother, Dennis “Sonny” Beam; a sister, Judy Beam-Morris; and a brother-in-law, Forest Durbin.

The family has arranged for a private graveside service. Donation may be made to Alzheimer’s Association at alz.org in memory of Phyllis.

Everyone is invited to sign the online guestbook, leave a condolence, or leave a memory for the family to read at fisherfunerals.com.

Fisher Family Funeral Services is honored to be entrusted with Phyllis’s Care.
