Phillip Richard Lantz

April 18, 1941 – March 27, 2023

Phillip Richard Lantz, 81, Noblesville, passed away on March 27, 2023, at IU Tipton Hospital in Tipton, Ind.

He was born on April 18, 1941, in Beech Grove, Ind., to Henry and Juanita (Hutton) Lantz. He grew up in the Beech Grove area and graduated from Scecina High School with the Class of 1959. He then furthered his education at the University of Indianapolis. Phillip also honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force.

Phillip was a computer programmer and had worked in several Veterans hospitals, including Arlington, Texas, Indianapolis and Marion, Ind., and Murfreesboro, Tenn. He was a member of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church.

Leisure time would find him gardening, reading, bird watching, and watching IU basketball games. During his young years, he was a Boy Scout and had earned Eagle Scout status. He later became a Boy Scout leader.

He married Janet Suzanne (Rudolph) Kanuer on December 26, 1987, who survives him. Also surviving is a daughter, Kimberly Lantz of Ft. Wayne, Ind.; stepdaughters, Cindy (Chris) Girtman of Sheridan, and Diana Knauer of Nashville, Ind.; 21 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Joseph Lantz.

A time of visitation from 4 to 5 p.m. with memorial services to follow will take place on April 17, 2023, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. Burial will occur at Arcadia Cemetery.
