April 4, 1946 – September 22, 2021
Phillip L. Munsey, 75, Noblesville, passed away on Wednesday, September 22, 2021 in his sleep at his home. He was born on April 4, 1946 to Raleigh and Hope (Johnson) Munsey in Indianapolis.
Phil attended Beech Grove High School and received higher education at Sams Technical Institute and Indiana Northern University, going onto pursue a career in technology and engineering. He was a man of many loves, most of all the outdoors – whether it be bicycling in Utah, rafting in Colorado, hiking in Tennessee, or simply camping in Southern Indiana. Even in the last weeks of his life, Phil took comfort by just sitting outside with his beloved companion Rosey. Another love of his was food, and when it came to this, he was adventurous! Uni shooters, pickled herring washed down with vodka, or a train trip to Chicago for an oyster lunch, anyone?
Though the best things are free, I’m referring to all the wonderful friends he had accumulated over the years, especially the ones made in the town of Cicero. Phil became very intertwined with the community while working at Sacred Heart. He even found a brotherhood through the Knights of Columbus. He was very loving, caring, respectful, and at times stubborn and set in his ways. Phil was a wonderful father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
He leaves behind by his children, Tonya, Anthony, Matthew, and Anna; grandchildren, Aly, Tia, Austin, and Mady; and six great-grandchildren.
Phil’s end was bitter, but his life was sweet. He will be profoundly missed by his family and friends. Thank you to anyone and everyone who played a part in his life. May God keep him at peace, and bless all of you.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at noon on Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 410 S. Pearl St., Cicero. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to the time of service at the church. Cremation will follow then interment will be at Washington Park East Cemetery in Indianapolis.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Knights of Columbus through Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, P.O. Box 889, Cicero, IN 46034.
