Guerin Catholic fell to Bishop Chatard 33-10 Friday at the Eagles Nest in the Golden Eagles’ final Circle City Conference game of the season.
The Class 4A No. 9 Trojans scored first on a two-yard touchdown run. Guerin Catholic answered that with a field goal by Evan Guenthner, cutting Chatard’s lead to 7-3. After that, the Trojans steadily increased their lead, going up 14-3 at halftime and 20-3 after three quarters.
Chatard led 33-3 in the fourth quarter, but the Golden Eagles fought to the end, as Ryan Zimmerman threw a 31-yard touchdown pass to Ryan Glenn during the game’s final minutes. Guenthner made the extra-point kick.
“I thought we could’ve played better,” said GC coach Tom Dilley. “I thought we could’ve certainly executed better and played more physically, so I don’t think that was indicative of our kids’ best effort. That’s on me. They weren’t prepared.”
Zimmerman and Sam Miller shared quarterback duties, with Miller going 11-for-16 and each player totaling 67 yards. Glenn had five catches for 70 yards.
The Golden Eagles finished conference play 0-3 and are 1-4 overall. Guerin Catholic will play next Friday at Northview.
