The Indiana Department of Transportation announced Thursday that construction has begun on Phase 2 of the Reconstructing State Road 32 project in Noblesville.
Construction crews are replacing pavement and reconstructing storm sewer lines along SR 32 (Conner Street) between 9th and 14th streets. Construction will last until sometime in June, weather permitting. Access to businesses along the route will remain open, and pedestrian detours are available. To maintain access to local businesses, 8th Street, 10th Street, and 16th Street will not be closed at the same time.
“We have been working with our local partners and businesses to minimize the construction impact as much as possible,” INDOT Project Manager Jennifer Beck said. “The project is needed due to the pavement reaching the end of its useful life. When complete, SR 32 will be an improved roadway for downtown Noblesville.”
A key component of the project is preserving the historic downtown district of Noblesville. Crews will preserve existing trees and sidewalks to the best extent possible.
INDOT reminds drivers to help keep construction workers safe by slowing down, using caution, and avoiding distractions when traveling in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent, and schedules are subject to change. Changes will be announced on the project social media channels and website.
Phase 1 of the project was recently completed with the improvements made at the intersection of SR 32 and 16th Street.
