Penny Jean Halsall, 73, Cicero, passed away on December 29, 2023, at home with her family at her side. She was one of the beloved daughters of Dorotha and Lester Heisterberg in Merrillville, Ind.
She was the beloved wife, mother, and grammy to her family, who were her greatest joy and legacy. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Crown Point, Ind., and enjoyed teaching Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She also worked as a real estate agent for many years and had a very rewarding career.
Penny is survived by her husband of 54 years, Thomas James Halsall; her son, Richard Harry Halsall and his wife K. Rachel Halsall; daughter, Amy Irene Halsall; sister, Pamela Kaye Shaffner; and her grandsons, Thomas James Halsall and Phoenix Michael Halsall. She will be deeply missed and mourned by all who had the joy of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Dorotha Irene (Heiny) Heisterberg and Lester William Heisterberg as well as several aunts, uncles, and cousin.
A time of visitation will be from 2 to 4 p.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2024, at Hartley Funeral Home Cicero Chapel, 209 W. Jackson St., Cicero. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
