The Indiana Pacers announced on Thursday that Dr. Phil Anloague was named the team’s new Director of Performance and Sports Science, effective July 28. Anloague, who has served as a consultant to the Pacers for over a decade, will oversee all facets of the team’s sports performance and sports science initiatives.
Most recently, Anloague was the associate provost for graduate academic affairs at the University of Dayton (UD), where he has been a faculty member since 2006. His current research focuses on the utility of functional and clinical testing in minimizing injury and maximizing performance in elite athletes. Additionally, he was instrumental in creating a new doctorate in physical therapy – of which he became the chair – in the School of Education and Health Sciences. Anloague also established and staffed the university’s Motion Analysis Lab, which brought research and student learning opportunities to the program in collaboration with Mechanical Engineering.
Anloague was also a consultant for several NBA and Major League Baseball teams, while also holding roles as a clinical specialist and president and CEO of Orion Physical Therapy Specialists and Orion Sports Medicine.
