Orioles overpower Millers, who play Zionsville Oct. 27

Noblesville was dealt a tough Hoosier Crossroads Conference loss at Avon Friday by the score of 14-7.

The Orioles scored one touchdown in the first quarter, then a second touchdown in the third quarter. The Millers also scored in the third period, with Gage Gulley punching the ball in from the one-yard line after a long drive. Jack Letourneau kicked the extra point.

“They adapted to the weather a little better than we did, and that’s so disappointing,” said Noblesville coach Dave Sharpe. The coach said Avon stopped the Millers on several fourth-and-shorts, “and we’ve been a pretty good fourth and short team all season,” he said. “That was really the story of the game, along with them getting off to the hot start.”

Due to technical issues, stats from the game were unavailable at press time.

Noblesville finished conference play 1-6 and the regular season 3-6. The Millers open Sectional 4 play on Oct. 27 with a first-round game at Zionsville.
