The Northern Hamilton County GOP Club held its monthly meeting on Monday at the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) Lodge, 7201 E. 196th St., Noblesville.
The meeting was led by Club President Emily Pearson, and Indiana House Speaker Todd Huston was the featured speaker. Many county elected officials and candidates were also in attendance.
Huston emphasized the need for more judges in fast-growing areas such as Hamilton County. Several judges in attendance agreed that expanding the judiciary is essential. He also urged increased voter turnout in northern Hamilton County. Huston represents District 37, which includes Jackson, White River, and Wayne townships, as well as portions of Fishers.
Huston addressed questions from attendees about Senate Bill 1, noting it will result in property tax cuts next year, and he highlighted the importance of road funding and tolls.
Other speakers included Mark and Lisa Hall, founders of The Feeding Team, an outdoor free food pantry program. There are currently 78 pantries in use and the charity has recently started food pickups with fresh produce every second Saturday at Hamilton Heights High School and at The Feeding Team office every first and third Thursday.
The couple mentioned they are always in need of donations and volunteers and encouraged attendees to get involved.
