The City of Noblesville along with officials from Firestone and the U.S. Environmental Protection agency will conduct a public availability session at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 31 at Noblesville City Hall second floor to discuss potential redevelopment plans for the property formerly Firestone Industrial Products.

Organizers are saying the purpose of the meeting is to discuss with property neighbors and the community potential options for the property located at 1700 Division St.

There will be booths focusing on several topics, including the history of the Firestone environmental project and for submitting ideas for the redevelopment of the main plant property. This will provide the community the opportunity to suggest ideas and learn more about the property. The City, Firestone and EPA will then evaluate the ideas in more detail after the meeting.

The Firestone plant, once Noblesville’s largest employer, closed in 2009 and was demolished in 2011. Neighboring property owners describe the site as an eyesore. The City of Noblesville commissioned a study of the property to determine the extent of possible contamination. Noblesville has also expressed an interest in developing a dog park on the property.

Noblesville officials stated Bridgestone Americas remains committed to the Noblesville community and believes this space has potential to be transitioned into a beneficial use for local residents.
