Noblesville Schools announced Tuesday that they are launching a public education series centered on the power of diversity and inclusion. The series is being developed by a community planning committee that includes representatives from Noblesville Schools, the City of Noblesville, and local faith organizations, as well as Noblesville parents and business leaders.
“Our objective in launching this series is to explore the many types of diversity we are fortunate to have right here in Noblesville and to foster respect for those differences,” shared Dr. Beth Niedermeyer, superintendent of Noblesville Schools. “I am personally passionate about ensuring that all Noblesville residents are celebrated for the value they bring to our community and am excited that other community partners will be working with Noblesville Schools to shape this initiative going forward.”
The first session of the series will be held at 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 22 in the Noblesville High School auditorium and is open to the public. Noblesville students representing various cultural backgrounds will be talking about their experiences and common misperceptions about their culture. There are over 55 different home languages spoken by students attending Noblesville Schools.
Noblesville Schools has had an internal diversity committee for over two years where teachers, administrators and school staff have been focused on increasing their understanding and awareness of differences, as well as exploring how to best serve the needs of all students.
