Noblesville Parks begins indoor pickleball open play gym hours

The Noblesville Parks and Recreation Department has begun pickleball drop-in gym hours for the fall and winter at The Recreation Annex at Ivy Tech Community College, 300 N. 17th St. As the weather begins to change, drop-in pickleball offers a fun way for the community to play.

Pickleball drop-in hours are available daily from 8 a.m. to noon with extended hours until 3 p.m. on Sundays. The gym will be closed on government holidays.

“We are delighted to offer more hours for this very popular activity,” said Angela Staggs, recreation program coordinator at The Recreation Annex. “Pickleball is a sport that can be enjoyed by people of all ages and skill levels.”

For those not familiar with the sport, pickleball is a game for all ages and skill levels. It is played with a paddle and plastic ball, and combines many elements of tennis, badminton and ping-pong. The rules are simple and the game is easy for beginners to learn, but can develop into a fast-paced, competitive for experienced players. The Recreation Annex holds up to six courts which provide great play for all experience levels.

When not actively playing, participants will be required to follow COVID-19 social distancing and mask protocols for Ivy Tech Community College. All entrants to the facility will be required to have a temperature check prior to entry.

Pickleball participants should park on the east side of the building, off of Harrison Street, by the high school football field. Entry is through Door 18. The cost for a drop-in player is $5 per visit, or a 15-visit punch pass is available for $50.
