Shortly after 8 a.m. on Thursday, the Noblesville Fire Department (NFD) responded on a possible residence fire in the 15200 block of Destination Drive, located in the Cumberland Pointe Housing Addition.

The first units on scene saw very little smoke coming from the home. Upon opening the front door they found heavy smoke conditions. Units were able to use a hose line to quickly extinguish the kitchen fire, limiting the fire damage to the kitchen area. One resident was treated for minor injuries, and all the animals were safely removed from the scene.

Working smoke detectors are credited with alerting the sleeping resident. NFD would like to take this opportunity to remind residents to ensure their smoke detectors are functioning properly.
