A local designer working with the All Things Carmel store on Main Street has created a unique T-shirt that honors and commemorates Mayor Jim Brainard, who is leaving office after seven terms.

The design, created by Carmel-based Blue Bear Clothing & Accessories, reflects an image of the Mayor with several key elements of his work in creating one of the best places to live, work and play in America.

“Our purpose was simple. We feel fortunate to be able to experience each and every thing that Carmel has offered us,” said Sai V Chekuri, CEO of Blue Bear, who is originally from Visakhapatnam, India, a sister city of Carmel. “The opportunities that the city has offered us have been overwhelming. When I came to Carmel I was like, wow, this is the place to be. And I have stayed here.”

The shirt made its debut at the State of the City event held at the Palladium on Dec. 4. All Things Carmel now has the commemorative shirt for sale at the store and online at AllThingsCarmel.com.

Blue Bear Apparel describes the shirt as made with 100-percent sustainable products, including 95 percent cotton and 5 percent spandex (consisting of recyclable materials). All shirts come with branding tags that can be planted and will produce basil plants.

The shirt comes in all sizes from Small to 4X. The price is $29.99 for all sizes. According to Blue Bear Apparel, all proceeds from the sales will go toward a future honor for Mayor Brainard.
