The Noblesville Unified track and field team is going back to the state finals.
The Millers finished fifth at the Kokomo regional on Saturday, earning the final qualifying spot for state, which takes place next Saturday, June 3, at Indiana University. Fishers also competed at the regional, placing ninth.
Leading the way for Noblesville was Drew Owens, who finished first overall in the long jump with a leap of 20 feet, 2.5 inches. Gurvinder Gill placed second overall in the 400 dash, and Grant Bullard was third in the shot put. The Millers’ 4×100 relay team finished fourth, while Noah Brisco took ninth in the 100 dash.
The Fishers 4×100 relay team of Leyton Dale, Evan Barker, Jacob Sanderson and Anthony Bishop placed third. Dale was also 12th in the shot put Other Tigers leaders were Timothy Jackson, who was fifth in the long jump; Luke Gilligan, who took sixth in the 400; and Jonathan Smith, who placed 13th in the 100 dash.
